Are You Checking In With The Business Or The Owner?

Think of your business as a ship in the middle of the ocean. And you of course, are El Capitano of that ship.

And as El Capitano it is your job not to panic when the ship starts to get a lil rocky. Ya know a slow month comes in, engagement goes down…But of course, you do panic.

You immediately start going down the list, checking all the things you need to start doing…

For…the ship.

Taking note of all the items that could be broken on your ship:

  • The marketing, yup I should get on LinkedIn, TikTok..Onlyfans (hell yea I could totally do feet pics)..etc. That’ll fix it.

  • The sales, I should discount or flash sale…yup that’ll do it!

  • The coaching. Yup I should join a mastermind that will do it for sure.

  • The strategy, I need to do more. Youtube, here I come!

And of course, you can go anywhere on the internet and find a couple thousand pages on what you could do differently to fix your ship, what you can do more of, more strategies and get rich quick tips that promise to fix your ship.

But have you checked in with the captain's manual?

You know, YOUR list of things that could be broken:

  • Your strategy, are you listening to your gut, waiting for your emotional wave to pass?

  • Your Authority, are you initiating or waiting to respond?

  • Your Marketing tone, are you using someone else’s tactics and not leaning in on your brands specific tone?

  • Your communication and messaging, are you living in the shadow and communicating from that or the gift?

  • How you create opportunities? Are you letting your profile lines do the heavy lifting? Or are you trying to force everything even though it feels gross?

I’m willing to bet you haven’t. Because no one teaches you to check in with your operation manual. We’re taught to look at everything outside of ourselves for the answer.

Personally, I had that shit show week. My mind was running around the deck yelling “the ship is going down, this is not a drill people, grab your shit and get ready to swim!”

And of course, my mind ( I have a defined mind and head so when that thing gets a firing, it is destructive, it is meant for others businesses, never for my own) started going down the checklist of all the stuff I NEED to do to fix the ship.

Meanwhile, El Capitan, aka ME, never once thought to check out if I was sinking.

I slammed down the ship’s manual and switched it for mine!  Jack Sparrow up in this biatch, I pulled out my operation manual (my immersion booklet), and I went down the list.

  • I was in the shadow state of my defined mind trying to figure everything out and obsessing over things that didn’t even matter.

  • I was in the shadow of my authority (I have an emotional authority which means ride the wave before I decide) and was rushing into decisions fabricated by the mind.

  • And I was in my projector bitterness not self theme by over giving my opinion to people that were not ready to hear it. (Projector strategy is to wait for the invitation before giving guidance)

It was shadow-self painted all over the place.

So, now I’m turnin the tables on you matey. If your tide is out and shit is hitting the fan, are you checking in with the captain or the ship?

Because your mind is always going to go to a list of “shoulds” and “more” when your body just wants you to chill and listen.

If you need an operation manual to help you tap into your El Capitan self so you can see first hand how you are meant to run your ship. I invite you to do an Immersion with me and I will give you the operation manual and teach you how to use it so you can get back to cruising!

Ok, I apologize for all the ship references but I had to go all in with it!
